Kent v Leicestershire LV= CC Day Two, The Nevill

Thursday 30th May 2013

Men’s First Team

Rain had the final say at Tunbridge Wells where the second day of Kent's LV= County Championship clash with Leicestershire was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Heavy overnight showers led to a noon inspection at the Nevill Ground, where Leicestershire had hoped to improve on their disappointing overnight position of 74 for four, but umpires Peter Hartley and Steve Gale decided there could be no play before lunch.

Tireless work by the groundstaff made conditions fit for play by 2.10pm when both sets of players and the officials emerged from the pavilion.

The fielders were taking up their positions when the heavens opened once again leaving the umpires with little alternative but to call things off for the day at 2.35pm.

The forecast for Friday is better, and the Club will allow anyone with a ticket for today's match to use it to gain entry to days three or four of this fixture, or Sunday's Yorkshire Bank 40 match against Northamptonshire which will also be held at the Nevill as part of the Club's Tunbridge Wells Cricket Festival.

Today the top field car park at the Nevill was closed, with restrictions lifted on the streets around the ground to allow for parking there. A decision will be made on Friday morning as to whether the car park will reopen.
