Kent v Loughborough MCCU: Bell-Drummond and Billings hit tons on day one

Daniel Bell-Drummond and Sam Billings hit centuries as Kent scored 394/7 as Kent warmed up for the 2015 season in style against Loughborough MCCU.

After winning the toss and batting under blue skies at The Spitfire Ground St Lawrence, Bell-Drummond’s 21 boundaries put Kent in a commanding position before a half-century from Fabian Cowdrey and a ton from Billings.

The openers put on 65 for the first wicket before Denly was trapped LBW for 18 by Stu Whittingham (2/63) and Key (13) departed before lunch.

Sam Northeast was adjudged LBW before Bell-Drummond and Cowdrey added 62 for the fourth wicket before they were each caught behind by ‘keeper Michael Burgess.

Darren Stevens’ cameo included two fours and a six in a brisk 16 before Billings (102) and Coles (32) built a 111-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Rob Key declared with seven down and set an attacking field as Matt Coles and Ivan Thomas claimed early wickets.

Coles removed skipper Anish Patel, caught by Cowdrey at point for 15 before Thomas trapped Hasan Azad for a third-ball duck.

The game is not classified as a first-class fixture by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
