Kent’s cricketers begin championship season with a defeat

LV= COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Trent Bridge:
Nottinghamshire 456 beat Kent 200 & 224 by an innings and 32 runs
(Notts 24 points, Kent 4 points)

Kent“s cricketers got off to the worst possible start on their return to division one of the LV= County Championship; losing by an innings and 32 runs to Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Resuming on 51-2, Kent collapsed to 72-5, at one stage, with Luke Fletcher the pick of the attack. He returned figures of 3-43 with Andre Adams and Samit Patel also taking three wickets each.

All-rounder Darren Stevens top scored with 42 while England one-day opener Joe Denly (pictured), batting at seven, offered some resistance with a knock of 37 but it was nowhere near enough as Notts ran out comfortable winners in the east midlands.

Kent are next back in action on Wednesday when they play Yorkshire in the county championship at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury.
