LV County Championship: Division One: Nottinghamshire v Kent
15 April 2010 at Trent Bridge, Day 1 of 4

Kent and England fast-bowler Amjad Khan was the pick of the attack as Nottinghamshire scored 396-8 on the opening day at Trent Bridge.

Put into bat, opener Neil Edwards hit a quickfire 85 but it was South African Hashim Amla that stole the headlines. The right-hand bat scored 129 and shared in stands of 103 with Edwards and 125 with skipper Chris Read before he was eventually stumped by Geraint Jones off the bowling of Darren Stevens.

Khan got the innings off to a good start, with two wickets in three balls, as the home side were at one stage reduced to 43 for two. The Danish-born paceman also trapped the dangerous Alistair Brown leg before wicket for 18. All-rounder Paul Franks resumes undefeated on 35 with Notts 396 for eight.

Kent will be hoping to wrap up the innings quickly tomorrow morning before starting their own reply.
