Kids for a quid for Kent v Middlesex (Sunday, 11am)

Head coach Matt Walker issued a rallying call to the Kent attack ahead of the Royal London One-Day Cup match against Middlesex on Sunday (7 May, 11am) at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

After impressing with the bat in posting two big totals this week, the Spitfires have suffered defeat despite impressive performances from Kent’s batsmen.

Walker said: “It’s pretty clear what we need to achieve and we have to get it right quickly. It’s basic stuff, deliver our skills with the ball and be clear with our thought processes when we take the field.

“We’ve scored over 680 runs in the last two games and lost both so we need to improve pretty quickly. It’s extremely tough to take after two almost perfect innings with the bat and nothing to show for all that hard work.

“Daniel and Alex have played beautifully. Alex is looking like he’s starting to come of age and be a bit more consistent. We’ve been good at chasing in the past but we have to be better at setting and defending.

“The bowlers have got to get together and work on their plans then execute their skills much better.”

Wayne Parnell is set to make the final appearance at The Spitfire Ground in his spell at the club before returning to South Africa to prepare for the Champions Trophy.

Former loanee James Harris is named in an unchanged 14-man Middlesex squad that lost by seven wickets at Surrey on Friday.
