Several Kent players were in action in the first round of fixtures in the 2017 Shepherd Neame Kent Cricket League.

Academy scholar Jan Gray took 4/33 with his leg spin and pro seamer Matt Hunn took 1/28 as Sandwich Town beat Holmesdale in the battle of the Premier League newcomers at The Butts.

The hosts bowled out dismissed Holmesdale for 183 on their first appearance in Kent’s top flight before securing a nine-wicket win as Zack Fagg hit an unbeaten hundred and Tom Chapman scored 76 not out.

Adam Riley took 2/36 in ten overs for Bexley as they won by seven wickets at home to Tunbridge Wells.

Hugh Bernard took 2/17, including the wicket of Zak Crawley, for Lordswood as they lost by six wickets at Sevenoaks Vine.

Adam Ball scored 30 for Tenterden as they lost at Beckenham on a tricky Foxgrove Road pitch.

Champions Hartley Country Club won at home against Blackheath with centuries for James Hockley and Dan Stickels.

In Division One, Imran Qayyum took 2/38 and scored 25 off 31 balls for Bromley as they beat The Mote.

Elsewhere, on-loan batsman Joe Weatherley scored 74 in a win at his Hampshire club St Cross in Winchester against Andover.
