Laura Marsh named as Interim Sunrisers Head Coach

Former Kent & England spinner Laura Marsh has been confirmed Interim Head Coach of Sunrisers Women’s regional side for the 2022 season.

Marsh will be taking on the role with immediate effect, leading Sunrisers into their Charlotte Edwards Cup and Rachel Heyhoe-Flint campaigns this Summer.

In her new Sunrisers side are Kent Women all-rounder Grace Scrivens & 2021 loanee, Mia Rogers.

The off-spinner announced her retirement from playing in August 2020, after nine seasons with Kent Women, featuring in five Women’s County Championships and three County T20 title-winning squads.

A 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup winner, the all-rounder made 73 appearances in total for Kent between 2011 and 2019, scoring 1,119 runs at an average of 27.29 and taking 96 wickets at 15.65.

She has also been awarded Kent Women Cap number 45 for her services to Kent Women.

Sunrisers Regional Director of Women’s Cricket, Danni Warren, said: “We are incredibly fortunate to have been able to work with Laura to bring her in to this role.

“Laura has a brilliant relationship with our players and support staff and truly embodies our Sunrisers values. I would like to personally thank Laura for embracing this opportunity and cannot wait to see her and the players showcase their talents over the Summer.”

On her appointment, Marsh said: “I am really excited to take on this role and have the opportunity to work with and develop an exciting group of players.”
