Kent make the journey to the Cloud County Ground in Chelmsford to take on Essex in the LV= Insurance County Championship.

The Spitfires currently sit 11 points better-off than Middlesex & in eighth position of Division One, after two wins & two draws already this season.

Ben Compton is currently Kent’s top Championship run-scorer so far this season – his 501 runs have come in nine matches & has been ably backed up by Daniel Bell-Drummond (490), Joey Evison (410) & Tawanda Muyeye (409).

Both Evison & Matt Quinn have 14 wickets apiece in Division One, with Hamid Qadri’s off-spin taking ten so far.

Skipper Tom Westley leads the way with the bat for the Chelmsford-based side, his 891 runs at an average of 55.68. Dan Lawrence has 627 runs at 48.23, & Matt Critchley 622 at 41.46.

Essex’s impressive bowling attack is currently led by white-ball skipper Simon Harmer, whose off-spin has provided 36 wickets, closely followed by seamers Jamie Porter (34) & Sam Cook (30).

Men’s Head Coach Matt Walker has named a squad of 12 for this match.

Wes Agar has been recalled by Cricket Australia following his back injury & has now left the Club to return to Australia.

Jack Leaning will continue to captain the side in red-ball cricket until the end of the season. As previously communicated, Sam Billings remains the Club Captain in Men’s cricket, but is taking time away from the game.

Daniel Bell-Drummond, Michael Hogan, Nathan Gilchrist & Marcus O’Riordan all miss out through injury, whilst Zak Crawley remains away with England for the Ashes.
