The Ageas Bowl is the venue for Kent’s final LV= Insurance County Championship away match of the season, against Hampshire.

Kent will be looking to secure a win before their final match at home to Somerset next week, as they look to secure their place in Division One of the Championship for next season after winning the Royal London Cup this past weekend.

Ben Compton now has 1,128 runs this season in red-ball cricket, the most of any Division One batter, with 847 runs from Daniel Bell-Drummond at an average of 47.05. Jack Leaning has 594 runs at 39.60.

Nathan Gilchrist has 19 wickets so far in the Championship this year, with 16 for Matt Quinn & 11 for Grant Stewart.


Opposition Report

Hampshire currently in contention to win this year’s Championship in what is fast becoming a ‘two-horse race’ at the top of the table between the Rose & Crown and Surrey.

The hosts find themselves in their current position no least down to the efforts of their impressive seam attack, including Kyle Abbott (53 wickets at 20.01), Keith Barker (49 wickets at 21.12), & Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas (42 wickets at 16.47).

With the bat, opener Nick Gubbins leads the way with 696 so far in the Championship, followed by wicketkeeper-batter Ben Brown (675 at 48.21) & Felix Organ (666 at 35.05).

Team News

Conor McKerr has joined the county on loan for the Club’s remaining two LV= Insurance County Championship fixtures.

Joey Evison’s loan deal has been extended to include this match, whilst Harry Finch’s stay at the Club has also been extended for the Championship run-in.

Jordan Cox will be unavailable for this fixture due to England’s IT20 tour to Pakistan, whilst Sam Billings & Matt Milnes are also ruled out through injury. Joe Denly is away with his wife expecting a child, & Jack Leaning will lead Kent in this match.
