Kent Spitfires will don sky blue for the first time this season as 50-over cricket returns with a National County Match against Hertfordshire at West Herts Cricket Club.

The match provides opportunity for Interim Men’s Head Coach Simon Cook to evaluate his squad ahead of the start of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Joe Denly has once again been named as captain of Kent Spitfires in 50-over competition this year, with Jack Leaning in-post as vice captain.

Michael Hogan will not play in the tournament, but will be a part of the coaching setup as assistant.

This match is FREE to enter for all spectators at West Herts Cricket Club, Park Ave, Watford WD18 7HP.

To park:

  • Continue onto Mildred Ave
  • Turn right onto Harwoods Rd
  • Turn right onto Rickmansworth Rd/A412
  • At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the A412 slip towards Rickmansworth (going back on yourself)
  • Merge onto Rickmansworth Rd/A412
  • Turn left onto Rosslyn Rd
  • Destination will be on the right
  • Arrive: CitiPark Gade, Gade Car Park, Rosslyn Road, Watford, UK

Leave car park turn left onto on to Rosslyn Road and right onto Upton Road. Gate to the ground is over the Cassio Road immediately in front of you (5 mins walk)

Team News

Interim Men’s Head Coach Simon Cook has named a 14-strong squad that will look to give invaluable playing experience to younger players for this National County Match, as well as giving gametime to more established players return from injury.

Jack Leaning will skipper the side in Joe Denly’s absence due to injury, whilst Harry Finch will continue keep wicket.

17-year-olds Ekansh Singh & Jaydn Denly, nephew of Joe, are included in the travelling squad.

Overseas signing James Bazley could make his Kent debut in this match, with established names such as Alex Blake, Ben Compton, Joey Evison, Nathan Gilchrist, Marcus O’Riordan, Hamid Qadri & Matt Quinn all included.

Pacers Arafat Bhuiyan & Jas Singh, fresh from first team appearances in the LV= Insurance County Championship, are both included.

Loan signing Matt Parkinson will join-up with the Club ahead of the Metro Bank One Day Cup opener against Yorkshire Vikings at Scarborough, with Grant Stewart set to return from international duty in time for Kent’s clash on the Yorkshire coast.
