Kent are currently eighth in Division One of the Championship, one point ahead of Middlesex in the relegation zone. Two teams drop down to Division Two from the ten-team league.

As a reminder; 16 points are awarded for a victory, with both sides earning eight points for a tie and five points apiece if a match is drawn. Any points scored in the first innings is added on, five batting bonus points are available as well as three bowling points in each team’s first innings, before 110 overs are reached.

Kent will need to ensure that they better Middlesex’s points tally – with the Lord’s-based side away at Nottinghamshire for their final match. If both teams finish on the same amount of points, Championship position is then settled by the following criteria:

  1. Most wins
  2. Fewest losses
  3. Most points achieved in matches against teams level on points
  4. Most wickets taken
  5. Most runs scored

Kent currently have two wins to Middlesex’s three.
