As Essex Seconds were bowled out for 111, in 24.3 overs, Ul-Hassan took 5 for 33 in seven overs, and Modhwadia 3 for 38 in his 10 over spell. Two players for Essex Seconds, Feroze Khushi and Jamel Richards top scored, both with 27 runs.

Ul-Hassan was a student in Worcestershire’s Academy, and played for their first team in a List A match. He has also played for Northamptonshire’s Second team.

Modhwadia, who went to Cambridge University, previously played for Loughborough Town Cricket Club, and has also appeared in Leicestershire’s Second Eleven.

Despite the low winning target, Kent Seconds got off to a shaky start losing three wickets for 25 runs, with their three most experienced batters, Tawanda Muyeye, Alex Blake and Ollie Robinson, all back in the pavilion, out cheaply.

But an excellent knock of 55, with nine fours, by former Leicestershire Second Eleven player, Jack Nightingale steadied the innings and Kent Seconds reached a winning 113 for 6 in 18.3 overs, George Ealham, 17, and Ul-Hassan 15, both not out.

Aron Nijjar, who plays for Minster (Sheppey) in the Kent League, took 4 for 44 for Essex.

A match scheduled for 100 overs in the days play lasted just 43, with both teams having completed their innings.
