Ben Compton scored 76 off 48 deliveries with 11 fours  for Kent Seconds, and Marcus O’Riordan, 42, off just 19 balls, with a six and half a dozen boundaries, and the pair shared a half century partnership for the second wicket, off 27 deliveries.

In a late flurry of wickets, Surrey bowler, Yousef Majid took a hat trick, with the wickets of Ben Aldred, James Logan, and Matt Quinn, in his figures of 4 for 41.

In their reply for Surrey Seconds, Dom Sibley, 65 off 39 deliveries, and Josh Blake 51, with six boundaries, got the visitors into a good position, but at the halfway stage of their innings 105 runs were still required for victory, and they did well to get so close, needing 19 runs of an eventful last over, bowled by Nathan Gilchrist, returning to fitness from an injury lay off.

In an over, which contained three wides, Surrey were only able to score 15 runs, with crucially only one boundary, leaving themselves with five to win off the last delivery, but they were unable to find the six-hit needed. James Logan was Kent Seconds best bowler, taking 2 for 13. Jas Singh 1 for 25, Matt Quinn 1 for 42.
