No other Kent batter was able to keep up with the required scoring rate, and with 50 runs required off just 19 deliveries, it became too difficult to reach the winning target, finishing on 183 fpr 7. Josh de Caires 2 for 28, Toby Greatwood 2 for 32.

Some hard hitting batting from de Caries, and the experienced Sam Robson, saw the home side post 208 for 5 from their 20 overs, with the pair putting together a half century partnership for the second wicket, off just 23 deliveries. Both hit six boundaries, and two sixes apiece, in their innings, de Caries 68, Robson 60, and another experienced batter, Mark Stoneman 43. Kent Academy scholar, Barney Ford 2 for 44. Their total proving enough in the end for victory.

Kent Second Eleven play their final T20 match of this season’s competition on Thursday this week, June 1, against Surrey Seconds, at Polo Farm, Canterbury. Admission is free.
