On-form Ball playing with confidence

All-rounder Adam Ball is in prime form and was delighted to hit the highest score of his Kent career in a Second XI Trophy match against Gloucestershire at Beckenham, writes Peter Burrowes.

Speaking shortly after his innings of 152 not out inspired Kent to a rain-affected win, the 24-year-old said: “I am feeling really confident with my batting and felt at ease during the innings.

“I have had a lot of experience playing second team cricket and I know what is required to be successful.”

The right-hander reveals that he has slightly changed his batting technique which made him feel much more comfortable at the crease.

“I feel more dynamic now when batting and ready to face every ball in a positive manner.”

He started batting with more aggression at the end of last season, and said, it has brought him more runs.

It was his second successive century this season along with scores of 97 and 86 for the seconds and 50 for the first XI against Leeds-Bradford MCCU at The Spitfire Ground.

Adam played for the first team in some championship and one day matches last season and would relish another opportunity.

“I feel I have something to offer. Being an all-rounder my left arm swing bowling can be handy when needed. I have to keep my bowling going and progress with it. I feel it is coming back together again after  I tried to change my action but it didn’t work.”

The Second XI are in action again on Monday (May 8) when Kent entertain Sussex in a Trophy match at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence and the teams move to Polo Farm on Tuesday May 9 for a three day Championship game.

Both matches start at 11am and are free to enter with free parking available.
