Piesley selected for ECB Regional Festival

Friday 21st August 2009

KENT Academy batsman Chris Piesley has been named in the London and East U17 squad for an ECB Regional Festival. The event will be staged at the National Cricket Performance Centre, in Loughborough, between the 24 and 27 of August.

Piesley has been in good form for the Academy this summer and follows Daniel Bell-Drummond and Fabian Cowdrey who were named in the U16 side for their recent tournament win.

Commenting on Piesley“s selection, Academy Director Phil Relf (pictured) said: “Chris had a magnificent season in 2008 and made a debut 100 for the county 2nd XI last summer. He has continued to progress this summer and is the leading Academy run scorer in the Kent Premier League at the moment.

“He has played several times for the second XI this summer and made an excellent 60 against a strong Sussex attack at Canterbury that demonstrated great skill and intelligence. His selection for the regional U17 side is reward for his performances for all Kent sides he has represented this summer.

“We want him to go and dominate this festival so that he gives himself a chance of further honours.”
