Record crowd at Blean Village Londis Fireworks Extravaganza

The 2014 Blean Village Londis Fireworks Extravaganza welcomed a record crowd to enjoy a spectacular display, lighting up the skies above The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury.

More than 4,000 people attended the annual Guy Fawkes Night showpiece featuring 15 minutes of pyrotechnics and performances from Kent Cricket cheerleaders The Spitfire Sweethearts, East Kent Rock Choir and Ab and the Underclass.

Kent Cricket CEO Jamie Clifford said: “It was a wonderful evening despite the rain, which happily cleared just before the display.

“I’d like to thank all the performers and stewards for making the evening such a success and hope all visitors enjoyed the event.

“A special mention also to Stagecoach and Canterbury City Council for providing a fantastic free park-and-ride service from New Dover Road.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2015.”

Voluntary donations for the Park and Ride service raised £387.34 for Pilgrims Hospice last night.
