Sam Northeast and Ivan Thomas take on Adam Ball in Queensland

Sam Northeast and Ivan Thomas played for Sunshine Coast against Adam Ball’s Redlands Tigers.

Kent vice-captain Northeast skippered the visitors and won the toss, choosing to field first.

Redlands lost Queensland State opener Greg Moller for 4 but recovered through Sandwich Town batsman and State teammate Marnus Labuschagne (53), James Peirson (81) and Simon Milenko (69).

Ivan Thomas took one for 68 off 19 overs, removing top-scorer Peirson as the Scorchers fought back to take five wickets for 71.

Adam Ball hit three fours and a six in a 62-ball innings of 30 before being run out by Steven Heise to leave the Tigers for 361 for 9 off 96 overs at the close.

The second and final day resumes next Saturday with Northeast and Thomas’s side aiming to overtake their total.
