Second team update from Hove

Kent“s cricketers performed well with the ball on the opening day (Wednesday) of their second XI championship match against Sussex at Hove. Batting first, the home side were dismissed for 211 with Brad Kruger the pick of the attack. The 21 year-old right-arm fast-medium bowler returned figures of 5-45 while fellow triallist Paul Muchall took 3-56. Kent resume later today on 46-2 with Alex Blake undefeated on 19.

Earlier in the week, Kent suffered a four-wicket defeat against Sussex in the Trophy. Batting first, Kent scored 251-7 from their 50 overs. Wicketkeeper/batsman Sam Billings (pictured) top scored with 73 while Chris Piesley hit 53 and James Hockley 51.

Sussex then reached their victory target for the loss of just six wickets to take the points.
