Stevens extends his Kent contract through to the end of the 2012 season

Kent County Cricket Club is pleased to announce that Player of the Year Darren Stevens, 34, has signed a new extended contract.

The all-rounder, who represented the England Lions last summer, has penned a deal running until the end of the 2012 season and is clearly delighted to be extending his stay at the St Lawrence Ground.

Commenting on the news, Stevens said: “I am very much looking forward to playing for the club over the next two seasons. I have enjoyed my time in Kent and wanted to show my commitment by signing this new extended deal. I remain fully committed to helping the club push forward; both on and off the field.”

Kent“s Team Director, Paul Farbrace, added: "We are all delighted that Darren has chosen to extend his deal for the next two seasons as he is a high quality player. He did very well last season and was justifiably named Kent Player of the Year. He is a key player; both on and off the field.”

Chief Executive Officer, Jamie Clifford, said: “Darren is a quality cricketer so I am very pleased that he has chosen to continue his career here at Kent. Since making his debut in 2005, he has shown great commitment and continues to perform well for the team.”
