Under-13 girls reach national final

Kent’s under 13 girls reached the national U13 Division A final at Grantham after a fine season.

After defeating Northamptonshire in the semi-finals, Kent lost to Yorkshire in the 35-over final.

Helen Fagg, Kent Community Cricket Officer for Women and Girls, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the squad for reaching the national finals. It was an excellent achievement to be unbeaten all season until the final and the players will learn a lot from the experience.

“There were some outstanding performances, particularly with the ball and in the field, and we’re looking forward to seeing the girls progress their skills in the run-up to the 2018 season.

“I’d like to thank all the coaches, parents and volunteers for supporting our performance squads and our sponsor, St Lawrence College.”

The squad is coached by Peter Cavender and Dom Taylor and received good luck messages from Kentish World Cup winners Tammy Beaumont and Laura Marsh.

St Lawrence College is the major sponsor of Kent Cricket’s girls performance programme
