Mitchell Claydon hits 50 in latest round of Australian Grade cricket

There were good results for Kent players out in Australia as Aussie seamer Mitch Claydon in New South Wales hit a half-century and two bowlers took important wickets.

Mitchell Claydon captained Newcastle City in a Newcastle District First Grade win over Belmont.

Batting at four, he scored 14 before being run out as his side posted just 102, trailing by 42 runs after the first innings.

Batting again, Belmont were all out for 92 with Kent's bowler of the year contributing just three overs, conceding just three overs.

City were set 137 to win and the 31-year-old cracked 59 not out off just 42 balls, including three fours and four sixes.

Adam Ball took one wicket for 82 runs off 17 overs in the second innings for Redlands Tigers.

The 21-year-old dismissed Gold Coast Dolphins opener Howard Biddle caught and bowled for 8.

The Tigers won on superior first innings after bowling out Dolphins for 100 as Ball took six wickets for 32.

Ivan Thomastook 3 for 45 on his debut for Sunshine Coast in the Queensland Premier Grade.

The Scorchers bowled out opponents Valley DCC for 233 and then posted 249/8 in reply, with the 23-year-old bowlerscoring one not out with the bat.

Sam Northeast is due to fly out to join him at the club later this winter. Brendan Nash is back in Australia and also set to play cricket in Queensland.
