Dilkes stars in Second XI T20s

Kent’s 17-year-old Academy scholar Isaac Dilkes scored an excellent half century for the Second X1 in a convincing T20 victory over Middlesex at Radlett.

In a double-header in the South Group competition honours were even, with both sides each winning a match to share the points, but Kent’s victory in the second game was by an impressive 55 runs, after they scored 202/6 in their 20 overs and then bowled Middlesex out cheaply.

Dilkes, who captains his club side Canterbury in the Premier Division of the Kent Cricket League, scored his 50 off just 37 deliveries with eight boundaries, and he was not out 67 at the end of the Kent innings, having smashed 10 fours and one six.

Middlesex never got to grips with the run chase as they lost wickets  and were bowled out for 147 in 16.4 overs,  Mitchell Claydon taking 3 for 23.

In the first match, Middlesex were three-wicket winners after Kent were bowled out for 147 in 18.1 overs despite 47 from Alex Blake and Calum Haggett hitting 34.

Middlesex knocked the winning runs off with three and a half overs to spare finishing on 148/7, Haggett 2 for 17.

The Second XI will be at the County Ground, Beckenham next week with a three-day Championship match against Sussex starting on Monday (July 15) and there will be two T20 matches against the same opposition on Thursday (July 18).

Entry is free for all and tickets do not need to be purchased.
