Penshurst Park Ladies Win County Shield

Tuesday 21st September 2021

Penshurst Park Ladies have recently won the Kent Women’s Softball Cricket Finals Day, picking up the winner’s shield for their club.

On a late summer’s day at Sevenoaks Vine’s second ground in Orpington, Penshurst Park played their way into the Final to face Bells Yew Green, from which they emerged County Winners and lifted the shield.

Helen Fagg, Community Cricket Manager (Women’s & Girls’) commented, “Having only set up their women’s softball cricket section in 2020, the club have made some remarkable progress through a challenging period, to establish a women’s section with a healthy summer fixture list. Club Secretary Jake Cheesman and Ladies’ Captain Charlotte Imison have been instrumental in getting the ladies to this stage and will no doubt be hugely proud of the women’s success in this format.”

The Kent Women’s Softball Cricket Finals Day is the first of its kind, with the purpose to reward the most committed women’s softball cricket clubs across the county with a celebratory end of season event.

It was fantastic that St Lawrence & Highland Court, Capel, Bells Yew Green, Farningham, Luddesdowne and Penshurst Park could participate in the event and celebrate one of the fastest growing areas of female cricket in the county.

A huge thanks to everyone involved in Women’s Softball Cricket around the county.
