Alex Blake signs contract extension

Kent batsman Alex Blake has signed a contract extension after a prolific summer in white-ball cricket.

The Farnborough-born cricketer came through the Kent Cricket Academy to earn a reputation as one of the most destructive batsmen in limited overs cricket in 2015.

The 26-year-old joins Daniel Bell-Drummond, Matt Coles and captain Sam Northeast in committing his future to his home county.

Blake said: “I’ve played at Kent for my whole career so it was an easy decision to stay.

“The reaction to my performances this season has been flattering and shows people are taking notice of what I’ve done this summer.

“It’s an exciting time for the club and I wanted to repay the faith shown in me.

“It’s been a good campaign in white-ball cricket and we’ll be looking to learn from it and go one or two steps further next year.”

In 2015, Blake scored three match-winning 50s in the NatWest T20 Blast and two crucial half-centuries in the Royal London One-Day Cup as Kent Spitfires reached the quarter-finals in both competitions.
