Cox wins SA20 with Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Kent ‘keeper-batter Jordan Cox has won the second T20 title of his career after being a part of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape franchise that lifted the first ever SA20 title, South Africa’s new domestic T20 tournament.

Cox added seven runs towards the Sunrisers’ total of 137/6, adding to his runs in six other performances earlier in the tournament – before his side in orange finished the job in dramatic fashion by dismissing the Pretoria Capitals for 135 in the final over of the second innings.
Elsewhere, it was heartbreak over in the UAE for Sam Billings & the Desert Vipers in their final of the International League T20 (ILT20) – despite Billings’ 31 runs as wicketkeeper-batter, the Vipers missed out to Qais Ahmad’s Gulf Giants in a seven-wicket defeat at Dubai.
22-year-old Cox will now travel with England Lions for their white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, before joining up with Billings at Lahore Qalandars ahead of the start of this year’s Pakistan Super League. Both players are expected back at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence well ahead of the start of Kent’s Men’s season opener against Northamptonshire, beginning on Thursday 6 April.
