England men and women win final World T20 warm-ups

England’s men and women warmed up for the start of the World T20 with wins today.

Sam Billings kept wicket and scored eight from four balls against a Mumbai CA XI where David Willey was one of four England players to play for the opposition as all 15 players got a game before Wednesday’s opener against the West Indies in Mumbai (2pm GMT).

Roy, Hales, Root and Stokes all scored 30 or more at a strike rate over 130 as England posted 177 for eight and Willey claimed a hat-trick with two wickets for Adil Rashid.

In reply, Reece Topley and Chris Jordan took two wickets each as England restricted to Mumbai to 163 with James Vince (45) and Jos Buttler (25) enjoying cameos with the bat.

England’s women cruised a third successive warm-up win as Kent and England captain Charlotte Edwards hit 12 off 11 balls to help seal the win with 21 balls to spare.

County colleagues Tammy Beaumont, Tash Farrant and Lydia Greenway did not bat or bowl.

England begin their WT20 campaign on Thursday against Bangladesh in Bangalore (10am GMT).
