Performances during the season at County level with the England Under 19“s, and in the Elite Player Development Programme matches, formed the basis for the selectors.

The players will meet at Loughborough on the 22 September to be physically and medically assessed on the 23 and 24 September.

The 16-man squad is as follows:

Ben Stokes – Durham
Christopher Dent – Gloucestershire
David Payne – Gloucestershire
Michael Bates – Hampshire
Danny Briggs – Hampshire
James Vince – Hampshire
James Goodman – Kent
Nathan Buck – Leicestershire
Calum Haggett – Somerset
Jos Buttler – Somerset
Matthew Dunn – Surrey
Ateeq Javid – Warwickshire
Paul Best – Warwickshire
Azeem Rafiq – Yorkshire
Joe Root – Yorkshire
Charlie Roebuck – Yorkshire

Commenting on Goodman“s inclusion, Kent Academy Director, Phil Relf, said: “James has been given a couple of chances in the first-team, during the NatWest Pro40 campaign, and those that saw his innings against Surrey would have noticed the mature way he went about things. This intelligent approach is one of the several factors that have impressed the England under 19 selection panel. He has finished the season in fine form for the county 2nd XI and skippered the team extremely well. Touring Bangladesh will present unique challenges for him and will provide a great chance for him to work on his game plans against spin. He has gone from strength to strength this summer and his inclusion is reward for an excellent attitude to his game. We wish him well for the tour.”
