Kent bowlers work with Steffan Jones during Winter regime

Former Kent loanee turned professional fast bowling consultant Steffan Jones has spent the Winter working with Kent bowlers from pathway to first-team level.

Joey Evison, Nathan Gilchrist, a returning Fred Klaassen & former Pathway bowler Harry Dowling were at the Ames Levett Sports Centre to be put through their paces this past week.

Focussing on all aspects of bowling, the former Rajasthan Royals Pace Bowling Coach has been working with the Club’s bowlers to build pace & endurance ahead of the 2024 season.

On working with Jones, Joey Evison was quick to mention the positive affects that the Winter programme has had.

Nathan Gilchrist & Joey Evison are put through their paces

“Stef has really helped us all these past three weeks in becoming the best bowlers we can be looking ahead to the new season”, said the right-armer.

“He’s worked with all of us on improving our technique and also specific strength and conditioning training aimed at helping get us that extra yard of pace – some of his methods are a bit different, and there’s stuff I’ve never done before, but I’m already seeing the benefits!

“It’ll be great to work with him for a few more weeks before the New Year.”

Jones will continue to work with Kent’s bowling core over the Winter, with further development projects for bowlers in the pipeline for the start of the new year.
