Kent Girls’ Talent Pathway Awards bring the season to a close

The Kent Girls’ Talent Pathway Awards 2023 took place at The Mote CC on Sunday 3rd September in glorious sunshine alongside the Kent Women’s Premier League Final between The Mote CC and Hayes CC.

In a celebration of women’s and girls’ cricket the 2023 Girls’ County Age Group squads, from the U10’s up to the U18’s, gathered together to bring the season to a close, along with family and friends.

The Awards took place either side of the presentation to the winners of the KWPL Final, Hayes CC, pausing from time to time to acknowledge the feats on the field of play including pathway player Emily Barrett’s match winning century.

In attendance and presenting the awards to our pathway players, were South East Stars’ and England’s Alice Davidson-Richards as well as South East Star’s Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Jemima Spence. Awards were presented to Batter of the Year, Bowler of the Year and Fielder of the Year for each of our Kent Girls’ squads.

The Bergman Osterberg Shield, presented to the season’s most outstanding performance by a player in the Kent Girls’ Talent Pathway, was awarded by David Sear MBE to Jemima Spence from the U18 County Age Group squad for her 131* not out for the South East Stars Academy against the Northern Diamonds Academy as well as several half centuries for the Under 18’s and Kent Women this season.

Two squad fundraising activities on the day raised a fantastic £176.50 for the Kent Cricket Performance Bursary.

Kent Women’s and Girls’ Pathway Manager, Dave Smith, said: “Seeing close to 100 pathway girls watching one of our U18’s & Kent Women’s player hit 122 not out to win the Kent Women’s Premier League Final for Hayes CC capped off a great girls pathway awards afternoon on Sunday.

“The girls all enjoyed catching up with their friends and finding out who the award winners were. Thank you to The Mote CC for hosting, the parents and players for making the effort to attend and all the coaching team for their commitment this year.”
