Kent take on Sussex in cooking competition

This evening, The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence was scheduled to host the Spitfires’ in their Vitality Blast fixture against Sussex Sharks. Whilst the wait for cricket continues, this weekend will still see Kent Cricket face Sussex, just perhaps not in the way that supporters would expect. The Club’s Head Chef Nigel Bell will take on his counterpart, Mikey Bowell from Sussex, in a T20 themed cooking competition.

In the ‘battle of the fillets’ both chefs have created a dish, with supporters voting for their favourite throughout the weekend via a Twitter poll. Each vote will be calculated as a run for the chef’s respective county.

The idea behind the #MakeItSteak campaign is to showcase businesses and sport supporting Quality British Steak. Initially the campaign focussed on football stadiums, with chefs from premier league clubs battling against each other, however it has now been extended to include cricket.

Kent’s Head Chef, Nigel Bell said: “I’m delighted to be involved with this campaign and provide a dish for the competition. I hope that this inspires fans of cricket to try cooking with British steak at home. Thank you in advance for your support and I’m looking forward to representing Kent this weekend!”

The poll is live on @qsm_beeflamb from 7pm on Friday 19th June and will close at 12 noon on Sunday 21st June.
