Kent Second Eleven traveled to Billericay to face Essex Second Eleven in the Second Eleven Championship.

Kent’s Second Eleven were comprehensively beaten by an innings and 174 runs, inside three days, in their championship match, against Essex Second Eleven, at Billericay, despite having a handful of first team players in the side.

Kent batter, Jack Leaning, scored a century 101, with 14 fours, in the sides first innings total of 249, Zak Evans 3 for 62, Aaron Baird 3 for 37.

In reply Essex Seconds wracked up a massive 596 for 8 declared, thanks to a brilliant double century from opener, Robin Das, 214, off 215 deliveries, with four sixes and 27 boundaries, and an unbeaten 114 not out, with 12 boundaries by Ali Zeb. Arafat Bhuiyan 3 for 71.

Facing a deficit of 347, Kent Seconds were bowled out in their second innings for just 173, Tawanda Muyeye 60, with 12 boundaries. The damage was done by Essex spinner Aron Nijjar, who also plays for Minster (Sheppey) in the Kent Cricket League, who took an impressive 6 for 30.

Kent Seconds play their final match of the season, a four day championship fixture, away to Lancashire Seconds, at Stanley Park, Blackpool, starting on Monday, September 18.
